a brief treatise on the only daughter of House Brewer
Gwyn and her brother Grenn are very close. Or they were. They're still close. But there's more pressure on him, now. There was a scandal. Their father had a secret family on the side and spent all their money on them, including money that was supposed to go to Lord Amberley. Leaving the coffers and the treasury empty. Then their father died, which meant that Grenn suddenly found himself in charge of House Brewer. He's young, and inexperienced, and inherited a House with no money to its name, really. He used to joust, spar, that sort of thing. Participate in tourneys, sometimes with his sister's favour. But now... he's changed.
She's worried about her brother, with all the weight on his shoulders. Gwyn tries her best to take on other responsibilities for their House, so he doesn't have THOSE on his shoulders as well. Also tries and cajoles him into things like he used to do. At least every now and then. Tries to get him to take a break sometimes. Go for a walk with her.
Gwyn isn't ambitious for herself. Not really. But for her brother? Her family? She would be. Or try to be. She wants more for herself. She wants love, and freedom, and the ability to choose for herself. But she knows how unlikely that is to be.
